ENTRAK is partner in the research project for the development of an integrated test environment for More Electric Technologies. Those studies happen in a research co-operation between universities, aircraft- and engine-industries as well as subsystem companies and are sponsored by the Free State of Bavaria within the scope of the Cluster Project Funds.
In the aircraft-industry considerations intensify to subsitute hydraulically and pneumatically driven power equipment by electrically powered equipment. Basing on this approach to unitary energy platforms, synergies are expected in the energy management as well as increased reliability, extended service intervals and better long-term behaviour of the power-systems. This way, innovative architectures arise, being subsumed under the term MEA.
The enhanced demand of power in More Electric approaches requires intelligent solutions to produce and to distribute the electrical energy needed with regard to a secure and efficient function of the engines.
ENTRAK’s assignment is the development of a generator management unit, enabling an engine-optimized power spread on two generators being installed at the high resp. low pressure stage of an engine.
The project largely supports the politically sponsored objectives of the national aircraft research program, particularly with regard to creation of value and environmental protection.
